Summer is here and with it, an opportunity to select your own reading material!
June 2009
Reading is key. Reading great literature widens your experience and encourages you to think about issues outside the bubble of our own lives. It brings home some of the common themes of humanity. Reading about current events also widens your experience and gives you an opportunity to think about what's going on beyond your own family, your own community, our own nation. And - speaking more pragmatically - reading good writing of any kind is the best possible way to increase your vocabulary, which will enhance your own writing and help you with the SATs and give you a great topic of discussion for an interview.
So during these summer months, we recommend supplementing your required reading with some choices from the Dunbar Suggested Reading List whenever possible and read one article each week from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal or The Economist (all of which are well-written publications that will expand your world view).
We're in the process of adding more than 30 new choices to our Suggested Reading List which our students can find in our Client Access section of the Dunbar website by clicking here.
Happy reading!
