Fall Visits with College Reps

Every fall, Dunbar Consultants meet with admissions counselors from across the country in our New Canaan office as they make their annual visits to local high schools.

During these meetings, we have an opportunity to discuss current admission trends and learn about their schools. They tell us what they are looking for in an applicant and what type of student might be a good fit for their institution. Admissions counselors tell who their overlap schools are and whether they value an interview. Is the writing component of the SAT an admissions factor? Does applying early in the cycle benefit a student? Does an on-campus visit or face-to-face meeting with an admissions officer influence a student's chance for admission? The answers to these questions enhance our ability to advise our own students.

Did you know that thirty students per year from Connecticut are accepted by SMU? Did you know that students at Bryn Mawr don't discuss their grades in public and that they schedule your own exam times? Did you know that over 10% of each class attends W & L for free on an academic scholarship? Did you know that University of San Diego students have the highest percentage of community service involvement in the country? Did you know that if you don't make a visit to Muhlenberg that you most likely will not be accepted regardless of your academic record? Did you know that state law mandates that 90% of the students at the University of Texas in Austin be from Texas?

So on behalf of our team of nineteen consultants and each one of the students we work with, we extend thanks to the admissions counselors from the following colleges and universities for sharing their insights with us this fall:

  • Bryn Mawr
  • College of Charleston
  • University of Colorado (Boulder) Endicott
  • Gettysburg
  • Guilford
  • High Point
  • Johns Hopkins
  • Lynn
  • Montana State University
  • Muhlenberg
  • Ohio Wesleyan
  • Salve Regina
  • University of San Diego
  • Southern Methodist University
  • Suffolk
  • University of Texas (Austin)
  • Vanderbilt
  • Washington & Lee

We know colleges, and colleges know Dunbar!
