It doesn't seem that long ago that I was faxing essay comments to students so they could make revisions in time to get their college applications in the mail - we weren't really thinking of a time when our comments could be transmitted instantly by email and applications would be submitted online. We used to pore through piles of college viewbooks and college guides but today everything we're looking for is available online. I always tell students to be their "best selves" during the college application process but what we're seeing now is that new technologies, especially social media, sometimes get in the way. So welcome to our "technology issue"! In addition to providing timely advice to our seniors and underclassmen, you'll find information here on search engines, blogs, social media and the ways in which technology is influencing college admissions.
