Timely Advice
Congratulations to those seniors who have settled on their college plans for next year! It is wonderful to have this burden off your backs. We would like to offer two pieces of advice that, from experience, we know are extremely important:
- Keep your grades up. Your acceptance letter offers admission, contingent on successful graduation from your high schools. We have seen students have their acceptances withdrawn when they allowed their grades to markedly fall from what had been the norm. Your high school guidance counselor will be sending a copy of your final transcript for your college to review.
- Keep your nose clean - stay involved to the end. An idle senior is often prone to find trouble, and here again, students have lost their acceptances to college. The fact is, we've seen it already happen this year. Make good decisions.
For underclassmen, the single most important thing you can do at this point is to have as strong a finish to the year as possible. This is the way you make a statement to the colleges about how you value your academics.
Additionally:
- Be certain to check in with us about your courses for next year.
- Plan for any year-end testing.
We'll want to talk to juniors about your college lists, campus visits, letters of recommendations, and to schedule interview practice sessions.
