Tying Admissions News and Technology Together
As anyone who frequents the Internet knows, blogs can be a great way to find more information on just about any subject. Both The New York Times and The Washington Post have blogs that specifically cover college admissions news and information.
The Choice from The New York Times is edited by Jacques Steinberg who wrote The Gatekeepers: Inside the Admissions Process of a Premier College and is currently the education writer for The New York Times. The blog includes a link to six current seniors' blogs as they recorded their individual journeys through college admissions and two Q&A columns (one from a community college dean and the other from varied panels of selective four year college deans of admission). The Choice Blog
Not Your Everyday Admissions Blog "A Beneath the Surface Look at Everything College Admissions (And A Few Shameless Plugs)" comes from The Washington Post. Produced by Andrew Flagel, Dean of Admissions at George Mason University, it is perhaps a little less structured than The Choice and offers fewer bells and whistles. But the articles are definitely worth a look! Not Your Everyday Admissions Blog
And then there are the ever-popular College Confidential and College Prowler, free-wheeling online "college-bound communities". While we know that almost everyone searching online for college information eventually finds his or her way to these blogs, we advise reading them with caution - there is an awful lot of misinformation mixed in with some valuable information.
