Where are Glee kids Rachel and Kurt going to go to college and how are they going to get there?!

Students applying to collegiate musical theater programs should know how different the process is from applying as a straight academic admit. In fact, it's very similar to applying as a recruited athlete in many respects as your talent plays a very large role in the admissions decision.

Here are some basic tips:

-- learn the difference between a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) so you can decide which type of program better suits your interests, whether on a traditional college campus or at a conservatory
-- start developing your college list and understand the various audition requirements (which vary by college) well in advance; you should be prepared to begin your auditions or submit pre-screening materials in the fall of your senior year
-- continue taking challenging courses and doing your best in the classroom as many programs require that you meet the standards of academic admits as well excelling in your audition.
